学术写作中四大常见的严重错误

针对近期一些作者常犯的学术写作错误，本文总结了一些实际案例与您分享。为保护作者的隐私权，以下例句皆经过调整与修饰。

1句子不完整

切记，一个完备的英语句子必须是语法正确、语意完整。

范例一：

错误：

Tests of the Taichung region have produced some curious findings. For example, the pollen of forty-eight plants native to Japan and Indonesia.

（范例中的第二句即为不完整的句子）

正确：

Tests of the Taichung region have produced some curious findings. For example, the region contains the pollen of forty-eight plants native to Japan and Indonesia.

范例二：

错误：

Scientists report no human deaths due to excessive caffeine consumption. Although caffeine does cause convulsions and death in certain animals.

（范例中的第二句即为不完整的句子）

正确：

Scientists report no human deaths due to excessive caffeine consumption, although caffeine does cause convulsions and death in certain animals.

2句型零散

代表使用太多子句，使句子显得零碎、冗长。

范例一：

错误：

The hearing was planned for Monday, December 2, but not all of the witnesses could be available, so it was rescheduled for the following Friday, and then all the witnesses could attend.

（文法无误，但句型过于零散，无法促成有效且简洁的语意表达。）

正确：

The hearing, which had been planned for Monday, December 2, was rescheduled for the following Friday so that all witnesses would be able to attend.

3避免堆砌名词

除非读者十分熟悉您的领域，否则最好避免在句子中夹杂太多专有名词或过长的专有名词堆砌。

范例一：

错误：

The THA has a hospital employee relations improvement program.

正确：

The THA has a program to improve relations among employees.

范例二：

错误：

The NSC continues to work on the International Space Station astronaut living-quarters module development project.

正确：

The NSC is still developing the module that will provide living quarters for the astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

4少用虚词结构

虚词结构的例子如下：

it is

there is

there are

尽量避开这类虚词结构，因为这种结构显得冗赘、且有时无法凸显主语与谓语的关系。

范例一：

错误：It was her last argument that finally persuaded me.

正确：Her last argument finally persuaded me.

范例二：

错误：There are likely to be many researchers raising questions about this methodological approach.

正确：Many researchers are likely to raise questions about this methodological approach.

范例三：

错误：It is inevitable that oil prices will rise.

正确：Oil prices will inevitably rise.
